Steps to Get Started

Step 1: NRF Project Activation

To activate any research project in the NRF, please complete the Registration Form (fillable PDF) to apply to become a NRF user. The registration process is different dependent on whether you are WUSTL USER from Washington University in St. Louis or NON-WUSTL USER from outside.  If you are a WUSTL user, please fill out the one form below.  Users outside of WUSTL, please fill out the three forms below.

WUSTL Users:

Non-WUSTL Users:

Please note that the Billing Information Form and MOU require signatures other than those of the User. Also, a hard copy of the Purchase Order is required. The Institutional signature on the MOU needs to be someone who has the authority to sign on behalf of your institution.

Step 2: Safety Training

As a requirement in use of the Micro- and Nanofabrication Lab and Particle Technology Lab, users must take the NRF Safety and SEI Training to complete NRF-Safety-SEI form.  For users who request access to the Surface Characterization Lab and Bio-imaging Lab, please skip this process and proceed to step 4.

Step 3: Apply for the NRF User Key

Apply for the NRF User Key for online reservation and billing information system.

Step 4: Schedule Training

Identify the specific tool in the NRF Core Labs and contact NRF staff for training. 

Step 5: NRF Locations

The NRF Core Labs are located at Earth Planetary Sciences (EPS) Building and Whitaker Hall -Biomedical Engineering Building.  Find out directions to the labs.
