NRF Internship Program

Kyle Oetjen

As an NRF intern, I work closely with the principle scientist dealing with the synthesis of nanoparticles.  Originally from Paducah, Kentucky, I enrolled at Washington University School of Engineering in Fall 2008.  Along with the chemistry itself, I am also interested in new and exciting applications of the nanoparticles the NRF produces.

Sarah Canniff

As an NRF intern, my primary role is to work with the principle scientist on the synthesis of nanoparticles and also use the SEM, TEM and Raman microscope to analyze our results. In the fall I will be a junior in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Wash U, studying Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Along with obtaining valuable lab experience, I am also excited to learn more about the numerous applications of nanotechnology.

Nathan Banka

As an NRF intern, I work primarily with soft lithography and characterization of nanostructures using the atomic force microscope.  I will graduate from Washington University in December with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and I plan to pursue graduate studies in nanotechnology starting in Fall 2010.

Amelia Chen

As an NRF high school intern, I work supporting the other researchers with their projects.  I have experience on the SEM and do demos for visitors to the facility.  I am currently a junior at Parkway North High School and wish to pursue a career in science after graduation.
